Jobs Committee to consider Competition and Consumer Protection Bill 2014

Consideration of the Competition and Consumer Protection Bill 2014 will be on the agenda of the Select Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation tomorrow, Thursday 15th May 2014.

Committee Chairman Damien English TD said: “The legislation has three main components: the merging of the National Consumer Agency and Competition Authority; the regulation of certain practices in the grocery goods sector aimed at ensuring balance and fairness between the various players in the sector; and update and modernise the law on media mergers to take account of international best practice and technological developments. Tomorrow, the Bill will receive detailed consideration and members will have the opportunity to propose and discuss any amendments to the legislation as published.”

This meeting will start at 12 noon on Thursday, 15th May 2014 in Committee Room 4.
