Sub-Committee on Global Taxation continues hearings

27 Beal 2014, 14:44

The Joint sub-Committee on Global Taxation will continue its hearings on Ireland’s relationship with the global corporate/multinational taxation architecture tomorrow, Wednesday, 28th May 2014.

Sub-Committee Chairman Ciarán Lynch TD said: “Tomorrow, as part of hearings, the Sub-Committee will meet with Conor O’Brien, Head of Tax and Legal Services, KPMG-Dublin and Michael Taft, Research Officer, Unite the Union for an assessment of the various measures of the effective rate of corporation tax in Ireland. It is clear that multinational companies come to Ireland for a variety of reasons, not least our access to the Eurozone, our well-educated workforce, the cost of doing business and our taxation system. We accept that there is merit in engaging in a process of understanding how our tax infrastructure works in an international context and our meetings should provide us with a clear and comprehensive understanding of the issues.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 4 at 2pm on Wednesday, 28th May 2014.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.
