Environment Committee to meet Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland

18 Meith 2014, 15:30

Representatives from the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland are before the Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht tomorrow to discuss the Radiological Protection (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2014.

18 June 2014

Michael McCarthy TD, Cathaoirleach of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht, said: “The Bill sets out to provide for the dissolution of the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII) and the transfer of all of its functions, staff and assets to the Environmental Protection Agency. The Bill also provides for incorporation of the Amendment to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material done at Vienna on 8 July 2005. This meeting of the Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht (TDs and Senators) offers a good opportunity for members to engage with a major stakeholder and to hear expert opinions on the provisions of this Bill prior to it being taken at Committee Stage by the Dáil Select Sub-Committee on Environment, Community and Local Government on Tuesday, 24 June 2014.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 3, Leinster House at 1:15 pm tomorrow, Thursday, 19 June 2014.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
