Sub-Committee on Environment, Community and Local Government to consider Radiological Protection (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2014

Minister of State for Housing and Planning at the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government Jan O’Sullivan will attend the sub Committee on Environment, Community and Local Government tomorrow, Tuesday, 24th June 2014 for the committee stage of the Radiological Protection (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2014.

Michael McCarthy TD, Chairman of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht, said: “The Bill sets out to provide for the dissolution of the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII) and the transfer of all of its functions, staff and assets to the Environmental Protection Agency. The Bill also provides for incorporation of the Amendment to the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material done at Vienna on 8 July 2005. Tomorrow, the Committee will have the opportunity to discuss proposed changes as set out in the legislation as published.”

This meeting will start at 11am tomorrow, Tuesday, 24th June 2014 in Committee Room 4, Leinster House.
