7 Iúil 2014, 10:38

You are invited to attend, or send a representative, to the launch of a Report on Utilising the Arts to Combat Disadvantage by the Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht. It takes place on Wednesday, 9th July at 11.30 in the A/V Room of Leinster House.

Michael McCarthy, Cathaoirleach of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht, said: “Utilising the arts to promote social inclusion and to combat exclusion and disadvantage is a well-established and accepted principle and area of work.  International research supports this social policy and there is significant evidence-based data that confirms its efficacy in addressing social issues in a non-combative, long-term and developmental way. Our Committee held a number of very productive and informative series of meetings with interested parties and stakeholders and, on Wednesday, we will launch a report based on those hearings which makes a number of observations and recommendations.”
