Committee Chairman Damien English TD said: “Our Committee has a very busy agenda tomorrow. Following scrutiny of a number of EU legislative proposals, we will be meeting with representatives from StartupIreland, a not-for-profit grassroots organisation providing an independent focal point for the Irish start-up community regionally, nationally and internationally with the objective of increasing the number of Irish start-ups that start and scale successfully. Our Committee is committed to playing our part in finding new potential solutions which integrate social protection, education and job creation measures to get people back to work, but also to start-up and grow new enterprises. If we are serious about our indigenous businesses we need to encourage and help create the best environment for them to operate in. We’re looking forward to our meeting tomorrow with Startup Ireland to get their views on job creation and innovation. We will end our meeting with a discussion of an EU motion on guidelines for employment of young workers in the fishing and shipping sectors.”

This meeting will start at 1.30pm on Tuesday, 8th July 2014 in Committee Room 2.
