Ceann Comhairle Seán Barrett TD pays tribute to Dr. Ian Paisley

Ceann Comhairle Seán Barrett TD says: “It is with sadness that I learned of the death of Dr Ian Paisley. Dr Paisley will be both remembered and missed by the many constituents he served with great vitality, energy and commitment over a long number of years. I got to know Dr. Paisley in the latter years of his parliamentary tenure and found him a man who recognised the potential for his constituents in fostering a good working relationship between the Houses of the Oireachtas and the Northern Ireland Assembly. As Ceann Comhairle, it was always a pleasure to meet with Dr. Paisley and his wife Eileen both here in Dublin or during my visits to Northern Ireland.
On behalf of the Members of Dáil Éireann and on my own behalf, I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to his wife Eileen, his family and friends.”
