Justice Committee to meet with Chair Designate of the National Disability Authority

Committee Chairman David Stanton TD said: “Under the Programme for Government, those who are being proposed for appointment as chairpersons of State boards are required to make themselves available to the appropriate Oireachtas Committee.

“The principal function of the National Disability Authority is to advise the Minister for Justice and Equality regarding issues of policy and practice relating to disability and to act as a central, national body which will assist the Minister in the coordination and development of policy in relation to persons with disabilities.

“Tomorrow will be our first opportunity to engage with Helen Guinan, Chair Designate of the National Disability Authority when she will have an opportunity to outline what she sees as the priorities and challenges for the Authority in the immediate period ahead and into the future. Committee members will have a chance to raise any issues they may have on the Authority.”

This meeting will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, 17th September 2014 in Committee Room 2.
