Oireachtas Banking Inquiry considers draft proposal for inquiry

The Committee, which has been tasked with preparing a detailed proposal for the banking inquiry, today, Wednesday, 17th September, 2014 received the final report from the Ad hoc Advisory Group and also considered a draft scope and terms of reference for the inquiry.

Chairman Designate Ciaran Lynch TD: “At today’s meeting, the Committee received the final report from the Ad Hoc Group advising on a draft inquiry framework and an inquiry plan. The Committee noted the report and would like to thank the group for their input.

“Following its meeting with the Ad Hoc Group, the Committee considered a draft proposal for the Committees on Procedure and Privileges of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann. This document outlines the relevant proposal, which includes a framework for the inquiry plan, the different phases of the inquiry and its draft terms of reference.

“Over the coming week, the Committee will work on finalising these draft documents and have agreed to have these completed at our next meeting on Wednesday, 24th September for submission to the CPPs of both Houses.”
