Environment Committee to focus on property supply and demand

22 MFómh 2014, 13:02

Supply and demand in the commercial and domestic property markets will be on the agenda of the Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd September when it meets with Dr Peter Stafford, Director of Property Industry Ireland.

Michael McCarthy TD, Chairman of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht, said: “There has been much commentary recently on housing demand and supply in Ireland with some warning of a housing shortage, coupled with sharp price rises, particularly in large urban areas, due to the low rate of housing construction since the property and construction crash.  Tomorrow, we will have an opportunity to focus on supply and demand in both the domestic and commercial property markets when we meet with Dr Peter Stafford, Director of Property Industry Ireland. Established in 2011, Property Industry Ireland is a representative organisation with almost 90 member firms drawn from all of the main sub-sectors of the Irish property industry. It’s a chance to engage with an organisation representing many sections of the property sector to get the industry’s perspectives on the current state of the Irish property market and discuss the key issues affecting the property market.”

This meeting will take place at 2.15pm on Tuesday, 23rd September 2014 in Committee Room 4.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
