Justice Committee to focus on the benefits of e-conveyancing

30 MFómh 2014, 12:53

The Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality will resume its hearings on the benefits of e-conveyancing tomorrow, Wednesday, 1st October 2014.

Those addressing the meeting include representatives from the Irish Banking Federation; Law Society of Ireland; Property Registration Authority and the Merger of Property Registration Authority, Ordnance Survey Ireland and Valuation Office.

Committee Chairman David Stanton TD said: “Last Summer, our Committee held a very thought-provoking hearing on the topic of e-conveyancing and we are looking forward to resuming our hearings tomorrow when we will meet with representatives from a number of interested parties to discuss the issue. E-conveyancing is the paperless electronic transfer of title of land from one person to another and could reduce the total transaction time for buying a house to a matter of days.”

This meeting will take place at 2pm on Wednesday, 1st October 2014 in Committee Room 2.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
