The proposal by the European Commission to establish a European Public Prosecutor’s Office will be on the agenda of the Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality tomorrow, Wednesday, 8th October 2014 when it meets with Professor Gavin Barrett of UCD.
Committee Chairman David Stanton TD said: “Oireachtas Committees are playing an ever more important role in the oversight of EU legislation. When we last considered the EC legislative proposal to establish a European Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Committee decided that the proposal warranted a reasoned opinion and tomorrow we look forward to a further examination of the EU legislative proposals in this area of justice when we will hear from Professor Gavin Barrett of UCD who is a specialist in European law.”
This meeting will take place at 11am on Wednesday, 8th October 2014 in Committee Room 2.
Following this meeting, the Committee will meet with Emily Logan, Chief Commissioner Designate, the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission
