Environment Committee to focus on water charges with CER

The Committee on the Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht will focus on water charges and water tariff principles and proposals when it meets with Garrett Blaney, Chairperson, Commission for Energy Regulation which regulates Uisce Éireann tomorrow, Tuesday, 21st October 2014.

Michael McCarthy TD, Chairman of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Environment, Culture and the Gaeltacht, said: “The Commission for Energy Regulation has set its pricing structure for water charges. Domestic water charges are due to commence in the final quarter of 2014, with customers due to receive their first bills in at the beginning of 2015. Tomorrow, we will have an opportunity to discuss the pricing structure for water charges and water tariff principles and proposals with the body responsible for regulating Uisce Éireann. Members will be keen to discuss the basis that will be used to set charges, how the tariff will be structured, matters such as the approach to the free allowance and the quality of services provided to householders.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 4, Leinster House at 2.15pm tomorrow, Tuesday, 21st October 2014.
