Justice Committee to discuss motion on Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission

Minister for Justice and Equality Frances Fitzgerald TD will appear before the Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality tomorrow, Wednesday, 22nd October 2014 when a motion on the appointment of Members of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission will be on the agenda.

Committee Chairman David Stanton TD said: “The Committee has already met with Emily Logan, Chief Commissioner Designate of the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission. Tomorrow we will meet with Minister Fitzgerald to consider the appointment of the remaining members of the Commission. The Committee will be keen to ensure that the Minister is providing a good cross-section of people representing all parts of society for appointment.”

This meeting will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday, 22nd October 2014 in Committee Room 2. At 2pm the Committee will consider the experience of persons of mixed race in State institutions when it meets with representatives from Mixed Race Irish.
