Select Transport Committee to consider Merchant Shipping Bill

The Dáil Select Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport will tomorrow meet for Committee-stage consideration of the Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships) Bill 2013.

The Minister for Transport Tourism and Sport Paschal Donohoe TD will be in attendance.

In replacing the Mercantile Marine Act 1955, the primary purpose of the Bill is to provide a legislative basis for the establishment and regulation of a modern and comprehensive ship registration system with a new centralised, electronic and accessible national ship register, the Irish Register of Ships, at its core.

The meeting takes place tomorrow Thursday 23 October at 2 pm in Committee Room 4, LH 2000. The meeting can be viewed online here.
