Jobs Committee to focus on Industrial Relations Amendment Bill 2014

Pre-Legislative Scrutiny on the General Scheme of the Industrial Relations (Amendment) Bill 2014 will be on the agenda of the Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation tomorrow, Tuesday, 11th November 2014 when it will hear from Minister of State for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Ged Nash TD and representatives from the Labour Relations Commission and ICTU.

The Schedule for the meeting is:

Session A: 1.45 pm.

Committee Chair Marcella Corcoran Kennedy said: “The aim of this Bill is to provide a new legislative framework to address issues arising from the Supreme Court ruling striking down Registered Employment Agreements, which set pay rates and conditions of employment for certain groups and sectors. Tomorrow, we will begin pre-legislative scrutiny of the Heads of the Bill with Minister Nash and representatives from the Labour Relations Commission and ICTU.”

Before the Committee meets with the Minister and representatives from the Labour Relations Commission an ICTU, it will carry out scrutiny of a number of EU legislative proposals: Com(2014)452 Proposal re certain aspects of the organisation of working time in inland waterway transport; and Com(2014)539, Com(2014)573, and Com(2014)574 Proposals re Agreements on Government Procurement in respect of Japan, Montenegro and New Zealand.

This meeting will start at 1.30pm on Tuesday, 11th November 2014 in Committee Room 2.
