EU Affairs Committee to launch key reports on voting rights and EU 2020

12 Samh 2014, 14:17

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will tomorrow launch separate reports on voting rights of Irish citizens abroad and the mid-term review of the EU’s Europe 2020 Strategy.

12 November 2014

  • Event: Launch of Reports on Voting Rights of Irish Citizens Abroad and Mid Term Review - Europe 2020 Strategy
  • Location: A/V Room, Leinster House
  • Date: Thursday 13 November 2014
  • Time: 11am

Committee Chairman Dominic Hannigan says: “Tomorrow will see the launch of two important reports by the Committee on EU Affairs. Both reports flow from a series of lively and productive meetings hosted by our Committee earlier this year. The report on voting rights was sparked by European Commission criticism of Ireland for not providing voting rights for its citizens living in other Member States in national elections. Meanwhile, the report on the mid-term review of the Europe 2020 strategy will serve as a political contribution to the European institutions and incorporaes a diverse range of Irish opinion on this overarching plan for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth across Europe.”

Copies of the reports will be available at the launch and electronic versions will be available online shortly afterwards.
