Agriculture Committee to launch key report on maximising Ireland’s land use

19 Samh 2014, 16:27

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will tomorrow launch a noteworthy report on how to maximise the range of the benefits available from Ireland’s agricultural land.

19 November 2014

  • Event: Photocall on Report on Land Use: Maximising its potential
  • Location: The Plinth, Leinster House
  • Date: Thursday 20 November 2014
  • Time: 10am

Committee Chairman Andrew Doyle TD says: “Over a series of hearings earlier this year, the Committee explored how best to balance four key demands for our land into the future, namely, increasing food production under Food Harvest 2020, offsetting carbon, the provision of clean water and lastly, the protection of habitats for biodiversity. Discussions are underway at EU level to foster a sustainable agriculture and land use sector from 2020 through to 2050. The Committee see the report as an important and worthwhile contribution to inform Ireland’s approach to this complex policy area that transcends this Dáil term.”

Copies of the reports will be available on the plinth and electronic versions will be online shortly afterwards. Deputy Doyle and other Committee Members will be available for questions following the photocall.
