Select sub-Committee on Transport to consider Roads Bill 2014

The Dáil Select sub-Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport will tomorrow meet for Committee-stage consideration of the Roads Bill 2014.

4nd February 2015

The meeting will start in Committee Room 4, Leinster House, tomorrow, Thursday, 5th of February 2015 at 2pm.


The Bill proposes to:


•    Dissolve the Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) and
•    Transfer its functions, land, property, etc. to a new transport service.
•    Transfer the staff of the RPA to the new service.
•    Amend and expand certain functions of NRA.
•    To amend the Roads Act 1993.


Chairman of the Committee, John O’Mahony, TD says: “The Roads Bill 2014 proposes significant changes to the NRA, particularly in the Bill’s proposed dissolution of the RPA and the transferring of its functions to the NRA. This is a move intended to streamline services and create more efficiency for road users in their dealings with the overall transport infrastructure. Tomorrow will provide a welcome opportunity for Committee Stage consideration of the Bill with Minister for Transport, Paschal Donohoe, TD.\"
