Committee to consider petitions relation to passport control and eligibility criteria for disabled drivers

12 Beal 2015, 17:28

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Public Service Oversight and Petitions will meet tomorrow afternoon to consider two separate petitions relating to families being split up while travelling through passport control at Irish airports and the eligibility criteria in relation to grants for disabled drivers.

12 May 2015

The petitions are entited:

  • [Petition No. P00038/14] Families of different Nationalities travelling together through passport control (Mr. Norman Wilson)
  • [Petition No. P00007/15] Primary Medical Certificate Criteria (Mr. Leon Delaney)

Committee Chairman Pádraig Mac Lochlainn TD says: “The Oireachtas petitions system is a direct channel for individual citizens and groups across Ireland to influence the parliamentary agenda. Tomorrow, we will have an opportunity to consider another two petitions in relation to how families with members of different nationalities are dealt with at passport control as well as the perceived harshness in the eligibility criteria for grants for disabled drivers.

“Creating a petition is simple and the process has been designed to be open, user-friendly and accessible to all. There is a standard form which we request all petitioners to complete, which is available at petitions.oireachtas.ie and can be completed and submitted online, emailed or sent by post.”

Get involved and make a petition.

The meeting takes place tomorrow Wednesday 13 May in Committee Room 3, LH 2000 at 4pm. Public proceedings, which are anticipated to commence at 4:30 pm, can be viewed online here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
