Tánaiste to address Social Protection Committee to conduct mid-year review of 2015 Estimates

The Joint Committee on Education and Social Protection will meet with Tánaiste and Minister for Social protection, Joan Burton TD, tomorrow, Tuesday, 22nd September, to conduct a mid-year review of Estimates for 2015 for the Department of Social Protection.

The Committee will consider Vote 37, which provides for Exchequer expenditure of just over €11 billion, and an overall expenditure of approximately €19.4 billion.

The meeting will commence at 2.15pm in Committee Room 4 tomorrow, Tuesday, 22nd September 2015.

Committee Chair, Joanna Tuffy TD said, “Tomorrow’s meeting is a valuable opportunity for the Committee to engage with Tánaiste Joan Burton on how her department has performed so far this year, and to discuss the prospects for the rest of the year.”

 “As the highest spending Government department, Social Protection is also one of the most important in terms of providing service provision and assistance to the public. The Joint Committee will wish to assess the department’s performance to date in terms of rolling out its services efficiently and fairly to those who require them.”
