23 MFómh 2015, 17:39

A Parliamentary delegation from the National People’s Congress in China will tomorrow meet with Members of the Joint Committee on Education and Social Protection and the Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation to exchange views on a broad range of issues relating to education and technological innovation.

23 September 2015

Speaking in advance of the meeting, Chair of the Education and Social Protection Committee, Joanna Tuffy TD, said “I am very pleased to welcome this delegation to Leinster House today. China and Ireland have historically shared close links in a number of areas, including education and technological innovation and this meeting allows for a timely exchange on how this growing relationship can be enhanced even further.”

“Members of the Education and Social Protection Committee have expressed great interest in this meeting as it allows us to share knowledge and gain valuable experience in these key educational and economic sectors.”

Chair of the Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Committee, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy TD, who will attend tomorrow’s meeting, noted “As a key part of our own work programme I am very much looking forward to meeting with the delegation to hear their experience of technological innovation. It is a growth area in which both Senator Feargal Quinn and I, who will also meet with the delegation, have a keen interest.”

During their visit to Leinster House the delegation will also meet with the Ceann Comhairle, Seán Barrett TD, and Cathaoirleach, Senator Paddy Burke.
