Chairman of the OPW to address Finance Committee to conduct mid-year Estimates review

The Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure & Reform will meet with the Chairman of the Office of Public Works, Ms. Clare McGrath, tomorrow, Wednesday, 30th September, to conduct a mid-year review of Estimates for the Office of Public Works.

The Committee will consider Vote 13, which provides for Exchequer expenditure of approximately €370million. The meeting will be two parts. The first part will focus on opportunities to improve performance information made to the Committee by the OPW. The second part will focus on the mid-year position, emerging pressures and other developments in relation to the voted expenditure.

“The Committee is attempting to enhance the way it interacts with public bodies and working with them to improve the quality of performance information that is given by them to the Committee” said the Chairman, Deputy Liam Twomey “We want to see public bodies setting targets for the future that are more specific, more relevant and more measurable. We have been engaging with the OPW on this over the last few months and look forward to hearing their views and intentions in relation to this”

The meeting will commence at 2.00 pm in Committee Room 4 tomorrow, Wednesday, 30th September 2015.
