Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar TD, will appear before the Health Committee tomorrow to give its members a quarterly update on health issues.

Appearing before the Committee will be:
• Leo Varadkar TD, Minister for Health;
• Kathleen Lynch TD, Minister of State at the Department of Health with special responsibility for Primary Care, Social Care (Disabilities and Older People) and Mental Health;
• Tony O' Brien, Director General, Health Service Executive.
Committee Chair, Jerry Buttimer TD says: “Tomorrow’s meeting will afford the Joint Committee a valuable opportunity for members of the Committee to raise matters regarding health issues with the Ministers and the head of the HSE.”
“It is vital that we continue to work to improve the quality, equity and efficiency of our health service. Tomorrow’s meeting is a follow-up to the Committee's regular engagement with the Minister, Minister of State and senior officials in the health service.”
“The Joint Committee will be seeking updates on how the health service is being delivered nationally, including in relation to the emergency department taskforce, and the overall funding position.”
“The meeting allow us to engage with the Department and the HSE on improving health standards and to calculate where and how additional resources need to and should be allocated, as well as what necessary actions should be taken nationally.”
The meeting will start in Committee Room 2, LH 2000, at 4.30pm tomorrow, Tuesday, 6th October 2015.
