Committee Chairman, John Paul Phelan TD, said “The pre-budget statement from IFAC, launched this month, gives an expert opinion on the factors which should be considered in advance of Budget 2017. As a Committee we welcome the opportunity to meet with Professor McHale and his team to discuss the findings in the statement - such as the impact of Brexit, the sustainability of corporation tax receipts and the importance of the continued reduction of government debt.”

“The Fiscal Council act as the independent body responsible for assessing Government performance in meeting its own stated budgetary targets and objectives and so tomorrows debate will assist greatly in our examination of Budget 2017 and subsequent report to Government.”
