Budgetary Oversight Committee to meet with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce on the Revised Capital Plan

8 Beal 2017, 15:29

The meeting will commence at 4.00pm in Committee Room 4 tomorrow, Tuesday, 9 May 2017.

The Committee on Budgetary Oversight will tomorrow meet with representatives from the Dublin Chamber of Commerce to discuss the revised capital plan. The Committee will hear from Mary Rose Burke, CEO, Aebhric McGibney, Director of Public & International Affairs and Fergus Sharpe, Senior Public Affairs Executive.

The Committee will have the opportunity to discuss a number of issues with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce such as, investment in urban Ireland, approaches to capital investment planning, national planning goals and preparing the greater Dublin area for Brexit.

Committee Chairman, John Paul Phelan TD, said “As the representative body for businesses in the Greater Dublin Area, we welcome the opportunity to hear more from the Dublin Chamber of Commerce on their priorities for the revised capital plan. As a Committee we have already undertaken a considerable amount on work in this area, focusing on the need for greater infrastructure investment by the State in order to address emerging bottlenecks in areas such as housing, transport, water services, health and education.”

“The Central Statistics Office have predicted that the Greater Dublin Area will see its population increase by just over 400,000 people by 2031 and this, of course, has a direct impact on how we plan for our capital investment. Tomorrow’s meeting with Mary Rose Burke, Dublin Chamber of Commerce CEO and her colleagues will assist the Committee in their work of putting forward measures to be considered in the context of Budget 2018.”
