25 MFómh 2017, 11:00

Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe will attend the Committee on Budgetary Oversight on Wednesday 27 September as part of its Pre-Budget Scrutiny Hearings.

Committee Chair Josepha Madigan said: “The Committee will meet with Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe as we resume our pre-Budget scrutiny hearings. This is a significant opportunity to engage with the Minister before the Committee finalises its budget report.

Our Committee's role is to enhance budgetary transparency and accountability.  Over time, our goal is to develop a more continuous approach to financial scrutiny throughout the whole year. On Wednesday, as part of our pre-budget scrutiny work, we are meeting the Minister for Finance.

Our meeting will provide the Committee with an opportunity to examine key income and expenditure choices available to the Government, and test assumptions that should underpin the Budget and to raise issues they may have in relation to the forthcoming Budget.”

The Committee will meet in private in Committee Room 2, Leinster House at 2pm, with the public engagement with Minister Donohoe starting at 3pm on Wednesday, 27 September 2017. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

The meeting will be broadcast live on Oireachtas TV; Saorview Channel 22; Virgin Media Channel 207; Sky Channel 574; eir Vision Channel 504 and Vodafone Channel 201.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
