27 Márta 2018, 17:14

Rural Transport Policy will be the focus of Committee on Rural and Community Development tomorrow, Wednesday, 28 March 2018 when it will meet with representatives from the National Transport Authority.

Committee Chairman Joe Carey TD said: “The mission statement of the Rural Transport Programme is to provide a quality nationwide community based public transport system in rural Ireland which responds to local needs. In April 2012, the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport assigned responsibility for managing the Rural Transport Programme (RTP) to the National Transport Authority. Tomorrow, we will consider the rural transport policy with representatives from the National Transport Authority. The provision of adequate transport services is vital for sustaining, developing and growing rural communities and transport links are necessary for promoting social and economic development and inclusion.”

The Committee will meet at 12 noon, tomorrow, Wednesday, 28 March 2018 in Committee Room 4, Leinster House. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
