Irish Language Committee to visit Meath Gaeltacht

A delegation from the Joint Committee on the Irish Language, the Gaeltacht and the Islands will visit the Meath Gaeltacht on Monday, 18 June 2018. 

The delegation has invited local representatives of COIS,  Coláiste Pobail Ráth Chairn, Comhairle Chontae na Mí, Comharchumann Ráth Chairn, Conradh na Gaeilge, Cumann Bhulf Tón CLG, Cumann Chlann na nGael CLG, Cumann na bhFiann, Foras na Gaeilge, Glór na nGael, An t-Ionad Cúram Leanaí Ráth Chairn, the local library in Ráth Chairn; Scoil Uí Ghramhnaigh, Scoil Ultain Naofa and Údarás na Gaeltachta, and local Teachtaí Dála, Seanadóirí and County Councillors to meet with it to discuss various issues.

The delegation will discuss the development of the Meath Gaeltacht with these representatives and will bring its findings back to the Committee. Chairperson of the Committee, Catherine Connolly TD who will lead the delegation along with local TD,Peadar Tóibín, said that the delegation hopes to identify the issues of most local importance and to seek the opinions of the local organisations as to how these issues can best be addressed.  

Subsequent to the visit by the delegation, the Committee will write a report and present its findings to the Dáil, to the Seanad and to the relevant Government Ministers.
