Seanad Éireann to be addressed by Lord Mayor of Belfast

6 Samh 2018, 17:30

On foot of an invitation from Seanad Éireann, Lord Mayor of Belfast Deirdre Hargey will address the House on Thursday, 8 November, at 12:45 p.m. Under Seanad Éireann procedures, people from public and civic society may be invited to address the House on specific issues.

“All parts of Ireland north and south appear certain to feel the social and economic impact of Brexit,” said the Cathaoirleach, Senator Denis O’Donovan. “The members of Seanad Éireann welcome the chance to hear from Belfast’s Lord Mayor about the ways that Brexit may alter the daily lives of the people who live there, and also to explore how existing avenues of all-Ireland cooperation can continue to thrive and grow in these changing times.”

Proceedings can be viewed live starting at 12:45 p.m. Thursday here and on Android and Apple devices using the Houses of the Oireachtas app. Follow live updates on Twitter at @OireachtasNews.

The Lord Mayor will sign the Visitors’ Book following her Seanad address in the presence of the Cathaoirleach, Leas-Chathaoirleach and Seanad Group leaders.
