PAC to examine National Pediatric Hospital Board Financial Statements

Representatives from the National Paediatric Hospital Board (NPHDB), the HSE and Officials from the Department of Health will be before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) tomorrow to discuss the Hospital Board’s 2017 Financial Statements.

The NPHDB is responsible for planning, designing, building, equipping and furnishing the new children’s hospital in accordance with the high-level framework brief which was commissioned by the (HSE).

Speaking today, PAC Chairman, Seán Fleming TD, said, “The building of the new National Children’s Hospital has been characterised by concerning levels of escalating costs. Tomorrow, the PAC will examine the NPHDB’s 2017 Financial Statements. Draft cumulative spending on the project up to the end of 2018 amounted to €261,304,542. PAC members will want to ascertain how value for money is being ensured and how the NPHDB plans to curb the spiralling cost overruns at the hospital.”

The meeting will start at 9am in Committee Room 3, Leinster House.
