On Wednesday, Feb. 6, the Joint Committee on Justice and Equality will conduct detailed scrutiny of a Private Member’s Bill that would provide for a refugee or a person eligible for subsidiary protection to apply for family members -- including a grandparent, parent, brother, sister, child, grandchild, ward or guardian -- to reside in Ireland as well.
Witnesses scheduled to discuss the International Protection (Family Reunification) (Amendment) Bill 2017 include
- Senator Colette Kelleher, sponsor of the bill
- Nick Henderson, chief executive of the Irish Refugee Council
- Fiona Finn, chief executive of the immigrant support group Nasc
