PAC Chairman, Seán Fleming TD, said, “Tomorrow’s meeting of the PAC will be attended by the Offices which come under the aegis of the Department of the Taoiseach. The Offices of the Attorney General; the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Chief State Solicitor - all dealing with legal matters - have not been before the Public Accounts Committee for some time. These are Offices of significance, which the Committee wishes to engage with on a more regular basis.”

“In September, the Committee examined costs and spending by the Office of the President. Issues were raised by this Committee at that time about an unaudited annual allowance of €317,000. Áras an Uachtaráin then published a document called ‘The Presidency in review, 2011-2018’, which gave more detail on costs and spending. “

“The Committee will want to discuss expenditure under the President’s Establishment, along with the 2017 accounts and will be interested to hear what measures have been put in place to provide more insight into spending by Áras an Uachtaráin.”

The meeting will start at 9am in Committee Room 3, Leinster House.
