The Joint Committee on Business, Enterprise and Innovation will tomorrow meet with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) to discuss competition law relating to trade associations.

The Chairperson of the CCPC, Isolde Goggin, is due to address the meeting at 4pm on Tuesday in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House. The CCPC is the independent statutory body mandated to enforce competition and consumer protection law in Ireland.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Chair Mary Butler TD said: “We welcome this opportunity to engage with the CCPC to bring clarity to the legal framework that governs discussions involving trade associations, particularly in the context of recent issues in the beef sector.”

The meeting in Committee Room 4 can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
