Health Committee to discuss implementation of Sláintecare

8 Meith 2021, 14:33

The Joint Committee on Health will get an update on the implementation of Sláintecare at a meeting in Leinster House, Committee Room 2, tomorrow, Wednesday 9 June at 3.30pm.

Sláintecare Executive Director Laura Magahy will appear, virtually, before the Committee for the discussion.

Cathaoirleach of the Committee Seán Crowe TD said: “The Committee welcomes this engagement to get a detailed update on progress made on key Sláintecare reforms to date and the priorities and actions planned under the next phase of the health service reform programme. The on-going pandemic and recent criminal cyber-attack on the HSE have tested the health service like never before and have led to increases in already unacceptably high patient waiting lists to access care. Plans under Sláintecare to reduce those waiting lists for both in-patient and out-patient care and actions proposed to meet the current and predicted demand for cancer services are some of the areas the Committee want to discuss.”

The Sláintecare Implementation Strategy and Action Plan for 2021-2023 was published last month.

Watch the Committee live.
