Foreign Affairs Committee to meet Dóchas to discuss pre-budget submission

The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence will meet Dóchas tomorrow , Wednesday, 14 July, to discuss its pre-budget submission at a meeting in Leinster House, Committee Room 3 at 9.30am.

Dóchas CEO Suzanne Keatinge; Trócaire CEO Caoimhe de Barre; Concern Worldwide CEO Dominic MacSorley; and Gloria Soma of the Titi Foundation, South Sudan will appear virtually before the Committee remotely for the meeting.

Committee Cathaoirleach Charlie Flanagan TD said: “Dóchas, the Irish Association of Non-Governmental Development Organisations, has 57 full and associate members working in 104 countries around the world.

“These NGOs work on a full and diverse range of projects and issues including; peace-building, responding to humanitarian crises, gender equality projects, education programmes, livelihood and health and nutrition programmes and poverty reduction.

“The Committee welcomes this engagement with Dóchas to discuss its pre-Budget  submission and to get its views on the global impact of Covid-19 and Climate Change on poorer countries around the world, the current level of Ireland’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) and what financial commitment is needed in 2022 and the years ahead.”
