Dublin MEPs to address Seanad Éireann for the first time on November 02

Members of the European Parliament representing the Dublin constituency will address Seanad Éireann and participate in a discussion with Senators tomorrow, Tuesday, 2 November.  

 

This is the first time the MEPs will have addressed the Seanad in the physical chamber in Leinster House since they were elected in May 2019.   MEPs representing Midlands North West constituency addressed the Seanad in September and discussed with Senators issues including Brexit, agriculture and climate change.  

The Seanad will be addressed by Barry Andrews MEP, Ciarán Cuffe MEP, Clare Daly MEP and Frances Fitzgerald MEP.  

The MEPs will outline their work in Europe on behalf of their constituencies and constituents.   There will be opening statements from the leaders of the Seanad groups and their spokespeople followed by a question and answer session with the MEPs.  

Frances Fitzgerald is a Fine Gael MEP. She is a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality.

Ciarán Cuffe is a Green Party MEP. He is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Committee on Transport and Tourism.   Barry Andrews is a Fianna Fáil MEP.

He is a member of the Committee on International Trade, the Delegation to the EU-UK Parliamentary Assembly and Delegation for relations with South Africa.  

Clare Daly is an Independent MEP. She is Vice Chair of the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan and a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.
