The Joint Committee on Education, Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science will resume its examination of Leaving Certificate Reform in a roundtable discussion with academics on Tuesday, November 16th. The meeting will be broadcast from Committee Room 2 at 11 am.
Dr Áine Hyland, Professor Emeritus in Education University College Cork (UCC); Professor Anne Looney, Executive Dean, Institute of Education, Dublin City University (DCU); Professor Michael O’Leary, Prometric Chair in Assessment, Director of the Centre for Assessment Research, Policy and Practice in Education, Institute of Education, DCU; Dr Jim Gleeson, Adjunct Professor, School of Policy and Practice, DCU; are due to attend the committee.
Speaking in advance of the meeting, Cathaoirleach, Paul Kehoe TD, said: “The Committee will continue its examination of Leaving Certificate Reform with a panel of distinguished academics, all of whom are widely regarded in education circles."
The Cathaoirleach added. “From remote learning, technological advancement and accredited grades – the pandemic has shown us the limits of a one-size-fits all approach to assessment and the pressing need to modernise and reform the Leaving Certificate.”

The Joint Committee on Education, Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
