Joint Committee on Public Petitions to discuss petition regarding unauthorised development on River Shannon

8 Noll 2021, 18:15

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 9 December, with a petitioner to discuss his petition regarding unauthorised development on the River Shannon.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will hear from Mr Michael Barrett and Mr Jack O’Sullivan.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “This is the first time that this Committee will hear directly from people who have submitted petitions to the Houses of the Oireachtas.

“This petition from Mr Barrett relates to the construction of a marina on Killinure Lough on the River Shannon which appears to be an unauthorised development.

“The Committee looks forward to hearing from our petitioner and to discussing the matter they have raised. Other matters to be discussed at this meeting include the consideration of a number of other petitions.”

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.

The meeting in the Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
