The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 13 October, to consider a petition regarding ‘Taking in Charge’.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will discuss Public Petition Number P00021/21 with petitioner Mr Terence Coskeran.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “This petition relates to the ‘Taking in Charge’ process by which a Local Authority takes in charge all of the infrastructure of an estate that has been constructed by a private individual or company and completed in accordance with the approved plans. The petitioner, Mr Terence Coskeran, is raising some issues he has had regarding an estate in Tipperary and the Committee looks forward to discussing these matters with him.

“The Committee will also consider a number of other petitions, including ‘Why we need to dispel old illogical lunacy laws in Ireland which have been amended and repealed’, ‘Issues relating to the Office of the Ombudsman for the Defence Forces and the Ombudsman (Defence Forces) Act 2004’ and ‘Reopen Ennis, Nenagh and St John’s Emergency Departments’.”

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.

The meeting in the Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
