Sub-Committee on Mental Health to discuss issues relating to perinatal mental health

17 DFómh 2022, 16:45

The Sub-Committee on Mental Health will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 18 October to discuss issues relating to perinatal mental health at 11am in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House.

The Committee will hear from representatives from:

·       Psychology Society of Ireland (PSI)

·       Health Service Executive (HSE)

·       National Maternity Hospital

Committee Cathaoirleach Senator Frances Black said “the meeting tomorrow comes a week after World Mental Health Day and follows on from the publication of the World Health Organisation’s Guide for integration of perinatal mental health in maternal and child health services last month.

The Sub-Committee will hear from the stakeholders involved in the provision of Irish perinatal healthcare.

Our discussion will allow us to gain valuable insight on how the creation and encouragement of safe environments for women to discuss any difficulties they may experience can improve the quality of maternal and child health services in Ireland.”

The meeting in Committee Room 1 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
