Joint Committee on Transport and Communications to discuss issues affecting the coach sector and separately TII’s report on the Impact of National Road Speed Limit Reductions on Greenhouse Gas Emissions

18 DFómh 2022, 18:38

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 19 October, to discuss issues affecting the coach sector and separately TII’s report on the Impact of National Road Speed Limit Reductions on Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House.

The Committee will hear from representatives from the Coach Tourism and Transport Council of Ireland (CTTC) on the issues affecting the coach sector and then will hear from representatives from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) on their report.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kieran O’Donnell said: “our meeting tomorrow will allow the Committee to hear the various issues that are affecting the coach sector. We know that this sector, along with many others, has been hit by staff shortages post-pandemic and the recruitment challenges they face. We are looking forward to hearing how the industry believes this along with the other issues can be addressed.

Tomorrow’s meeting will also allow us the opportunity to hear from Transport Infrastructure Ireland on their report that was published earlier this year on the impact of National Speed Limit Reductions on Greenhouse Gas Emissions.”

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
