Joint Committee on Transport and Communications meets to discuss the Committees’ consideration of Ireland’s National Aviation Policy

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 7th December, to further discuss the Committees’ consideration of Ireland’s National Aviation Policy 13:30 in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House. 

The meeting will hear from:

·       Minister for Environment, Climate, Communications and Transport – Eamon Ryan TD

·       Minister of State at the Department of Transport - Hildegarde Naughton TD

 

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kieran O’Donnell TD said: “our meeting tomorrow follows on from last week’s engagement with Ryanair as part of our consideration of Ireland’s National Aviation Policy. 

“We have already held discussions with the Director General of the International Air Transport Association Mr Willie Walsh on aviation issues. Furthermore, our Committee has also recently Amsterdam’s Schiphol and Rotterdam Airports in Holland in order to get an international perspective. 

“We will now bring our previous analysis and insights gained to our meeting with Minister Ryan and Minister of State Naughton on how the current challenges the industry face can be addressed and how we feel the Irish Government can best work with the sector to improve the experience for aviation companies, employees and customers.”

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
