Joint Committee on Public Petitions to consider of petition ‘homelessness is cancer... blocked-up houses are not a cure’

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 8 December, to consider Petition Number P00002/22 ‘homelessness is cancer...blocked-up houses are not a cure’ from Mr Eamonn Broughan.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will hear from representatives from Kildare County Council, Mr David Creighton, Senior Architect, and Mr Tom Kelleher, Senior Executive Quantity Surveyor, Architectural Services Section.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “This petition relates to vacant and blocked up houses in St Patrick’s Park in Rathangan which were purchased by Kildare County Council from 2007 pending development of the estate. The Committee welcomes this opportunity to discuss this petition and the issues raised by the petitioner with the representatives of Kildare County Council. We will also discuss a number of other petitions from members of the public.”

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.

The meeting in the Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
