14 Noll 2022, 15:01

The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will meet on Thursday, December 15th to continue its series of engagements with architects of the Good Friday Agreement.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House between 13:30 - 16:30.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Fergus O’Dowd said: “We look forward to continuing our series of meetings with architects of the Good Friday Agreement. This week we have former Sinn Féin leader and TD for Louth Gerry Adams who will discuss his role in the Northern Ireland peace process in the years leading up to the Good Friday Agreement. The Agreement helped to establish a cross-community consensus for peace and to secure power-sharing.”

The Committee has already heard from Bertie Ahern, George Mitchell, John Bruton, Mark Durkan, Lord Alderdice, Jonathan Powell and Tim O’Connor.

It will continue to meet with a range of people involved in the negotiations, including the politicians involved, diplomats and civil servants next year ahead of the publication of a report on the Committee’s review of Good Friday Agreement.
