Committee on Budgetary Oversight to meet to resume examination of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare Report – Chapters 9, 10, 11 & 12

The meeting will hear from representatives from the Nevin Economic Research Institute and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Neasa Hourigan TD said “Today’s meeting will again focus on Chapters 9 to 12 of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare Report which explores the promotion of enterprise, benefit adequacy, universal basic income, work incentives, and the sustainability of the Social Insurance Fund.

The Commission on Taxation and Welfare Report has prepared a thorough and evidenced-based examination of the suitability and sustainability of the taxation and welfare systems in Ireland and our Committee looks forward again to gain insights from both the Nevin Research Institute and ICTU.”
