The Joint Committee on Justice will meet for consideration of Opt-In Regulation (EU) 2021/2303

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House at 3pm. 

The Committee will hear from from Minister for Justice, Simon Harris TD

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy James Lawless TD said “the meeting with the Minister will allow the Committee to gain his first-hand perspective on the Regulation.  The aim of the Opt-In Regulation is to build on the mandate of the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) and develop it into a fully-fledged European Agency equipped with the tools to improve the implementation and functioning of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). This will be achieved by strengthening practical co-operation and information exchange among Member States.”
