Joint Committee on Health to meet with Mr Bernard Gloster to consider his strategic priorities for the position of Chief Executive Officer of the HSE

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Seán Crowe TD said “the meeting tomorrow with new HSE CEO, Mr Bernard Gloster, will give our Committee this early opportunity to understand his plans and perspective on the considerable challenges that face the Irish health system.  These include the very substantial treatment waiting lists confronting patients and well as delays arising in Emergency Departments.”

“At a broader level, the Committee has recently considered the challenges arising in relation to manpower planning and electronic healthcare records. We look forward to hearing from Mr Gloster about how he will address these prominent issues both short and long-term in the interests of delivering improved service and outcomes for patients and maximising the return for the very substantial public expenditure devoted to the service.”
