Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen to meet with Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 4 May, to discuss the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman’s 2021 Annual Report.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House will hear from Mr Liam Sloyan, Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO), and Ms MaryRose McGovern, Deputy Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Martin Browne said: “The Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman is an independent, free service that helps resolve complaints from consumers, including small businesses and other organisations, against financial service providers and pension providers. The Committee looks forward to meeting with Mr Sloyan and Ms McGovern and having a wide-ranging discussion on the 2021 FSPO Report and related matters.

“We will also consider petitions regarding ‘The Lack of Facilities in Ireland’s Towns’ and ‘Ireland Needs a National Lung Cancer Screening Programme’, and hear an update on the previously discussed petition seeking ‘Reform of Insurance for Thatched Heritage Buildings’.”

The Joint Committee on Public Petitions and the Ombudsmen is a standing Committee of the Houses of the Oireachtas and has 11 Members, seven from the Dáil and four from the Seanad.

The meeting in the Committee Room 4 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
