Committee on Budgetary Oversight to meet with Representatives from the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council to resume engagement on Existing Levels of Service Costs

Speaking ahead of the meeting Committee Cathaoirleach Barry Cowen TD said “Our resumed engagement today with representatives from IFAC follows on from our recent Post-Budget engagement meetings with stakeholders.

“Again we will be focussing on the Existing Levels of Service Costs or ELS which is the process of determining the amount of funding required for Departments to deliver services and supports based on the existing budgetary policy and is a key part of the annual budgetary process.

“The meeting later today will allow the Committee to get first-hand information on how the ELS calculations work and how costs are expected to evolve.”
